ACT Driving Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) apply to all employees driving company vehicles inside and outside the terminal; also it must be applied by all port users while driving their vehicles inside ACT premises.

ACT Driving Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  1. Drivers must have a valid Jordanian driving License for themselves and the vehicle with valid insurance policy.
  2. Drivers of Non ACT Traffic means must acquire entry permit for the vehicle according to security regulations.
  3. All traffic means must be equipped with in dated fire extinguisher of dry powder or CO2 extinguisher type otherwise for Non ACT traffic means driver must undertake full responsibility for this risky and unsafe condition.
  4. Before the  use of the vehicles, driver must inspect the equipment and make sure it is ready and safe to use, inspection means water/oil/fuel level inspection, tires conditions, brake system, warning means such as horns and audiovisual alarms, windscreen must be clean and obstacles free.
  5. Fasten seat belt and ask passengers to do so.
  6. Start off the warning and obstructions light or hazard lights while moving in the terminal vicinity, vehicles that not equipped with any means of visual alarm must be banned from entering the terminal during night and limited visibility conditions.
  7. Follow traffic rules and priorities.
  8. Do not enter yards, workshop and dangerous operations area unless you are authorized to do so.
  9. Abide to speed limits, which is; 30 km/hr in roads, 10km/hr on quayside, inside workshop, during taking turns and road junctions, and wherever limited visibility and slippery surfaces found.
  10. Abide to the speed limits and traffic signs outside the terminals.
  11. Smoking is not permitted in the traffic means or during driving in terminal vicinity.
  12. Mobile phones use, eating and drinking while driving is not allowed while driving.
  13. Driver must ensure that Loads must be in the vehicle capacity and displacements, it must be stabilized safely to the carrier, doors should be secured while driving, no personnel allowed to be picked on rear boxes or outside the cabins.
  14. Drivers must not overload traffic means with personnel.
  15. Driver must follow traffic signs where ever found.
  16. Driver must follow HSSE personnel instructions even though it overrides traffic signs in the area.
  17. Parking is permitted only on assigned parking areas or under HSSE instructions.
  18. Drivers must practice safe driving attitude and drive carefully.
  19. Terminal equipments own the priority to pass over other vehicles.
  20. Release of materials in the terminal vicinity is not permitted such as oil change and refueling.
  21. Littering is not permitted in the terminal through vehicles shutters and windows.
  22. Use of Horns is not permitted unless urgent need appears.
