(Aqaba, Jordan – February 26, 2018): As part of its continuous corporate social responsibility strategy, Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the preferred gateway to Jordan and beyond, today signed partnership agreements with both Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) and Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD). The agreements, which exemplify ACT’s willingness to support local community efforts, were signed in the presence of ACT’s CEO Steven Yoogalingam, Director General of Tkiyet Um Ali Samer Balkar, and Regional Director of HHRD Yasser Al-Khouly.
Through the one-year agreement with TUA, ACT will support the organization by sponsoring a number of TUA’s endorsed families in Aqaba, the greater Aqaba region, and the surrounding villages. These families will be receiving food parcels on monthly basis containing 22 food commodities .
Furthermore, ACT’S renewal of its partnership with HHRD for the third consecutive year will help to expand the reach of ACT’s social development programs in the south of Jordan, including Aqaba. Through this partnership, ACT will cooperate with HHRD in implementing the organization’s long-lasting and renowned initiatives of Ikfal Taleb, where materials essential to educational success for the entire school year are distributed to underprivileged children, as well as the Ahl Al Khair initiative, where food packages are delivered to underprivileged families prior to the beginning of Ramadan.
ACT will also combine efforts with HHRD to provide a selected Medical Center with a collection of essential medical equipment, one more endeavor which contributes to enhancing the well-being of the Kingdom’s southern population.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of ACT Steven Yoogalingam said, “We are honored to cooperate with such respected organizations, which we hope demonstrates our dedication to supporting social initiatives in the region. Contributing to positive and sustainable change is directly in line with ACT’s progressive corporate social responsibility strategy, and each year we carry out a number of social and humanitarian programs in cooperation with civil society organizations in hopes of reaching the largest number of underprivileged families possible. We like to focus on both economic and social development, which helps reach the collective, national goal of overall improved prosperity in the Kingdom.”
Director General of TUA Samer Balkar praised ACT’s efforts in supporting its local community saying, “ACT’s social responsibility and commitment towards its local community will help us reach our aim of feeding families in need in all governorates and across the Kingdom,”
HHRD’s Regional Director, Yasser Al-Khouly, said that cooperating with ACT is in line with HHRD’s initiatives targeted towards providing help and enhancing the lives of underprivileged families around the Kingdom.
These partnerships demonstrate ACT’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which aims to support three key pillars of the community: education, well-being, and the environment.
