Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) signs two partnership agreements with prominent non-governmental charity organizations to expand the reach of its support to those in need.

ACT renewed its collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) for the second year in a row to provide food parcels to families in need in the surrounding villages of Aqaba. Thanks to this agreement, thirteen of these families will receive throughout the year food parcels containing food commodities enough to prepare 3 meals a day. TUA and ACT will also collaborate on other campaigns lead by ACT as part of their extensive Corporate Social Responsibility program.

Director General of TUA Samer Balkar praised ACT’s efforts in supporting the local community saying, “Tkiyet Um Ali reaches out to all governorates including the governorate of Aqaba, and ACT’s social responsibility and commitment towards its local community will help us reach our aim of feeding families in need in all governorates across the Kingdom. We are delighted to sign the agreement for the second year in a row and we look forward to an ongoing long-term partnership with them.”

ACT also renewed its partnership with Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) for the fourth consecutive year. HHRD and ACT developed a strong cooperation around ACT’s now well-known campaigns of Ikfal Taleb, where school bags and sufficient stationary supply for the entire school year are distributed to underprivileged children, as well as the Ahl Al Khair initiative which aims at providing food packages to the families in need prior to the beginning of Ramadan. ACT will also combine efforts with HHRD to provide essential medical supplies and equipment to one of the Medical Center operating in some of the poorest areas of the governorate.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of ACT Steven Yoogalingam said, “We are honored to cooperate with such respected organizations. ACT has demonstrated over the years its commitment to supporting the local community. Besides a nationalization rate of 99.6% of Jordanian national in its workforce, ACT developed a quite exemplary corporate social responsibility program reaching those in need well beyond the economic zone in which it operates.”
HHRD’s Regional Director, Yasser Al-Khouly, said that ACT has been of great support to HHRD in implementing its campaigns which aim at enhancing the lives of underprivileged families around the Kingdom.
