Aqaba Container Terminal Renewal ISO 14001:2015, the Environmental Management System (EMS) certification
Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the preferred gateway to Jordan and beyond, recently announced Renewal ISO 14001:2015 certification. In a continuous achievement announced recently in accordance with the results of the final audit which was executed and carried out by SGS Jordan, to recommend ACT official certification of its EMS came on May 5, 2019 and until 23 April 2022, SGS Jordan the reputable certification body that provides the SGS Group is the clear global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, assessment and certification services, Compliance, risk, and technical support the Group comprises more than 300 affiliated companies.
In this audit the  auditor recognized and acknowledge the elements of the environmental management  system for ACT  such as : management commitment, environmental aspects identified and controlled , full legal compliance , employees awareness and culture of environmental  aspects ,internal audit and review- in heart of that for the  monitoring programs  such as : sea water ,air pollution, noise measurement programs and disposal of solid waste program and to comply with local and international standards in order to prevent pollution of elements of the environment surrounding the ACT and the success of these programs and prevent pollution of water, air and soil and the success of the program to measure noise to stay within the local levels and the success of the programs of integrated management of waste disposal.
ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard for an environmental management system (EMS) that helps businesses such as ACT to control and improve practices that are potentially harmful to the environment.
Coming after years of dedicated work necessitating collaboration among the environmental steering committee, managerial staff, and employees, In addition, with the support of the head of the pyramid and the senior management team, represented by the CEO of Aqaba Container Terminal Mr. Stephen Yogalingm. Commenting on this occasion during the announcement of the result by the company "SGS Jordan" and he said, “We at ACT are incredibly honored to receive and renewal ISO 14001:2015 certification of our advanced environmental management system that has been developed and exacted over the years. However, this certification is much more than just legal compliance; for us, it is a driver by which ACT can enact even more positive environmental change, remaining dedicated to what is truly important: effectively managing responsible business practices that seek to limit negative environmental impact through control on our environmental aspects.” with a significant impact on the environment”
In addition to that. Aqaba Container Terminal – ACT has recently announced renewal achieved the PERS certificate (Port Environmental Review System) to be ACT is the second Mediterranean port outside Europe got such certificate from the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO) to recommend ACT official certification of its PERS came on for next 2 years, May 23, 2018 and until 22 May 2020 to remains Aqaba Container terminal (ACT) part of the European and  member of the European Environmental International Ports Groups. Moreover, the first to receive this certificate at the level of the Middle East It is called the environmental port .and on behalf of ACT our environmental supervisor the projects coordinators Eng. Abd Al Wahab Al Shiyab received those certificates.
Recently also ACT announced being nominated as finalist for Lloyds South Asia, Middle East and Africa “HPH Environment” Award for the fourth consecutive year. 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by maritime transport experts and the International Judgement committee, which confirms that Aqaba Container Terminal was a model of environmental compliance and compliance between public and private sector partnerships for the construction, operation and transfer of projects in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
